Newcastle fans fuming as private jet ‘carrying Marc Guehi to Toon’ turns out to be delivering new Sunderland signing

NEWCASTLE fans were left irate after a private jet they believed to be carrying Marc Guehi actually delivered a new signing for bitter rivals Sunderland.

The Magpies are in hot pursuit of Crystal Palace’s skipper, whom they tried and failed to bring to St James’ Park last summer.

Unsubstantiated rumours started circulating that a deal to bring Guehi to Tyneside had been reached and that the defender was set to travel up north for a medical.

The St James’ Park faithful were sent into a frenzy after fans discovered a private jet was set to travel to Newcastle International Airport from London.

But their joy was short-lived after it transpired that the jet was carrying soon-to-be Sunderland newboy Simon Adingra.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie was the bearer of bad news for Magpies fans.

He wrote on X: “That’s Simon Adingra. Don’t believe rumours.”

Newcastle fans were left devastated, with one saying: “Cheers Keith, Wednesday’s ruined. Kids crying now, thanks.”

Another said: “Erm, nope.”

Sunderland fans, on the other hand, couldn’t help but revel in their rival fans’ dismay at the news.

One Mackem wrote: “Mic drop.”

Another said: “DOWNIE AT THE BACK POST.”

And another said: “Absolute belter.”

Sunderland are set to sign Adingra, who has undergone a medical, from Brighton in a deal worth £20.5million.

One signing on the horizon for Newcastle fans to get excited about is the arrival of Anthony Elanga.

The club have agreed a £60million deal with Nottingham Forest for the winger, who is set to undergo a medical within the next 48 hours.
