Mohammed Kudus set for awkward first meeting with Tottenham stars after West Ham agree £55m transfer

TOTTENHAM have reached an agreement with West Ham for Mohammed Kudus.

Spurs will pay their bitter East London rivals a fee in the region of £55million.

A medical is scheduled for Thursday.

Ghanaian star Kudus, 24, will sign a six-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

His capture is seen as a major bit of business for new Spurs chief Thomas Frank, who made signing a winger a top priority.

Tottenham had identified Bryan Mbeumo but moved on to Kudus when it emerged the Brentford star wanted to join Manchester United.

Spurs are interested in Mbeumo’s strike partner Yoane Wissa, who has one year remaining on his Bees deal.

West Ham initially rejected a £50m for Kudus from Tottenham, demanding a higher fee and preferring not to sell to their rivals.

The winger was offered to Chelsea, though the Blues did not make an offer.

The deal could kickstart West Ham‘s summer business.

The Hammers have needed to raise funds this summer to back Graham Potter as he looks to overhaul the squad, which finished 14th last season.

Potter wants a new spine but, due to Premier League spending rules, had to sell before buying.

They are closing in on a deal for Slavia Prague left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Kudus could get an interesting reception at his new club.

The former Ajax man was sent off at Spurs last season and handed a five-match ban for lashing out at a number of Tottenham players.

Kudus’ imminent move to Tottenham will irk the London Stadium faithful due to the clubs’ fierce rivalry.

That rivalry, however, hasn’t stopped players from upping sticks from the Hammers’ former Upton Park home to move to Spurs’ old stomping ground, White Hart Lane.

Freddie Kanoute crossed the divide in the summer of 2003, with beloved duo Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick following in January and the summer of 2004, respectively.

The last player to move from West Ham to Tottenham was former England international Scott Parker, who swapped East for North London in August 2011 in a deal worth £5.5million.
