KYLE WALKER is closing in on a stunning transfer to Burnley.
The England star is undergoing a medical with the newly-promoted Premier League club ahead of a permanent move from Manchester City.
Walker, 35, spent the second half of last season on loan with Serie A giants AC Milan after telling Pep Guardiola he wanted to move abroad in January.
He made 16 appearances for the Italians, but never found his best form in a struggling Milan side.
And the Serie A giants ultimately chose not to take up their option to buy him permanently.
Despite having a year left on his Etihad deal, Walker was axed from their Club World Cup squad and no longer features in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Walker had agreed to join Everton while Fulham were also interested.
But the Toffees never agreed terms with City and the right-back is now set to move to Turf Moor instead.
The Clarets will pay up to £5million to acquire the veteran defender, with part of the deal including conditional bonuses.
Walker’s son also plays in Burnley’s youth teams.
And Walker also played alongside new boss Parker when he was at Tottenham between 2011 and 2013.
Walker won 17 trophies across eight years with City, including six Premier League titles.
As well as banking a fee, City could save another £5million on his wages for the final year of his contract at the Etihad.
Guardiola needs to get players off the wage bill after admitting during the Club World Cup that his squad is too big.
Walker is desperate to continue playing for England and reach his 100 caps – and currently stands on 96.
He will hope that playing in the top flight will convince Thomas Tuchel to keep him in the squad.
Signing Walker will add valuable experience to Burnley’s squad as they bid to avoid relegation from the top flight next season.
Burnley have already signed seven players permanently, including Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea, Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon and Jaidon Anthony from Bournemouth.
