Calls for Premier League star to be called up to England cricket team after he gets wicket for county club

SEAN LONGSTAFF had fans calling for him to play for England’s cricket team after footage of him getting a wicket emerged.

The Newcastle midfielder plays for Tynemouth Cricket Club in Preston Ave.

Longstaff bowled right-arm medium-pace for their first XI against Felling CC – and got a batter out LBW.

Tynemouth went on to win the match – scoring 210 in the first innings and Felling CC were bowled out for just 71.

Longstaff’s wicket did the rounds on social media – leaving fans calling for him to play for England against India next week.

One said: “Free for Lords next week?”

Another added: “Worthy of an England call up”

One joked: “Any chance he’s free for a trip to Lords next week?”

Another said: “Better than our current bowlers.”

Longstaff is listed as a bowler on Tynemouth’s website and he has made four appearances for the first XI this season.

On the pitch, Longstaff helped Newcastle qualify for the Champions League last season.

The 27-year-old made 32 appearances as the Magpies also won their first piece of silverware for 70 YEARS.

Eddie Howe‘s Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final.
