Five stars heading out
Manchester United have told five outcasts they can stay away from pre-season training on Monday to sort out their futures.
United have confirmed Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia all want to leave Old Trafford this summer.
So they have been given extra time off to try to finalise moves while manager Ruben Amorim and his squad begin their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign.
Meanwhile, Man Utd also announced on Friday that new signing Matheus Cunha has been given the No10 shirt, previously worn by Rashford.
Heinze joins immediately
Manchester United hero Gabriel Heinze will join Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff at Arsenal.
Heinze will fill in after the recent departure of assistant coach Carlos Cuesta, who became Parma’s new head coach.
And SunSport understands the Argentine is set to get straight to work by joining the squad on their warm-weather trip to Spain next week ahead of their pre-season two-week tour of Asia from July 19.
Arteta is keen to integrate the 47-year-old with the players quickly to develop lasting relationships, as well as helping his new man get to grips with the demands of supporting a Premier League squad.
The former defender has spent most of his managerial career in his home nation, as well as a short stint in the MLS with Atlanta United.
Rashford’s exit hint
Manchester United’s wantaway star Marcus Rashford has been stripped of his No10 shirt.
United have also revealed Rashford is one of five senior players to tell the club of their desire to leave this summer – that also includes Antony, Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.
Man Utd signing Matheus Cunha has been given the forward’s iconic shirt number, previously worn by club legends.
Cunha, who became the Red Devils’ first summer signing when he joined for £62.5million from Wolves, was eyeing the No10 before joining.
Anthony Elanga profit
Newcastle have tabled an improved £55million offer for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga.
That is according to The Mail, who even claim a deal between the Magpies and Forest is on the verge of being agreed.
The Toon initially saw a £45m bid rejected last week but since then there has been significant progress in negotiations.
Personal terms between the Geordies and Elanga is not thought to be an issue.
But there could be interest from elsewhere with Aston Villa said to be monitoring the situation.
The winger has been a long-term target of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, who tried to sign him last summer.
The Sweden international’s former club Manchester United would be owed an estimated 15 per cent of any potential sale.
