Floyd Schofield Exposes “Doctored” Sparring Video with Abdullah Mason: The Full Story

Floyd Schofield spoke out today about the leaked video of his sparring session with Abdullah Mason. He says whoever leaked the four-year-old video only showed the round in which Mason looked good. He wants them to post the entire clip, not just the doctored one designed to make Abdullah look good.

Schofield states they edited out the first four rounds in which he was tagging Mason. Also, Floyd says the spar with Mason took place when he was 18 years old, still fighting four-rounders earlier in his career, and that he’d already sparred with another fighter before the session began.

“I was cracking Abdullah in his jaw the whole sparring session. It’s cool to show one decent round that you have, but what happened before that?” said Floyd Schofield to MillCity Boxing about the edited old video of someone posted, showing the only good round for Abdullah Mason of the four that he had.

You could tell that the video was edited by a person who wanted to make Abdullah Mason look good because it was a one-round clip that started and ended abruptly. Also, the sound effects of Mason landing. It appeared to be a theatrical piece designed to boost Abdullah’s stock, timed strategically after Schofield’s best career win against Tevin Farmer.

Schofield Demands Full Sparring Footage

“You’re not even going to post the whole video of sparring. That’s corny to me,” said Schofield. “Let’s fight. If you want to spar again, let’s spar. It’s funny that they post it after my biggest win [Tevin Farmer]. So, they’re trying to keep this little dude [Mason] relevant.”

There’s no chance that the whole sparring video will be released because that would defeat the purpose of the one round being posted. If the other three show an 18-year-old Schofield lighting up Mason, it would make Abdullah look bad, and the backlash would be huge. Fans would know that the leaked first video clip was designed to make him look like gold to give a false picture.

Schofield Blasts Doctored Spar

“Usually, when a fighter is trying to make a point, they post the whole sparring. We did four rounds. Where are the other rounds at? I know it’s his team. I even sent him a message. ‘Are y’all going to post the whole sparring or what? If you see the whole sparring, it’ll be a different story. I hope they see this and release the whole sparring,” said Schofield.

If a person or team is trying to make a fighter look better than they are, they may only show the positive parts of a spar rather than the full video where they’re getting hit with shots.

If that full video shows Abdullah Mason taking punishment in the first three rounds against Schofield, they’re not going to leak it. That would only reinforce what Floyd Schofield Sr. said about how his son had to take it easy on Mason.
