Tim Bradley on Devin Haney: “He’s Done” – How Brian Norman Jr. Can Finish Him with “Live Chickens

Tim Bradley says WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. needs to get “three or four” live chickens to help him prepare for his title defense against Devin Haney in November. He believes that humans won’t be needed, and he can save a lot of money on sparring partners by getting the chickens. I don’t think Bradley is kidding.

Bradley’s Chicken Training Theory

Bradley predicts that Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) will be running all around the ring, and tying up Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs) any chance he can get to neutralize his offense. Tim believes that Haney is “done” as a fighter, and once he “gets touched on the chin” by Norman, he’ll be in the same situation he was when he fought Ryan Garcia.

The one difference is that once Haney goes down against Norman Jr, he won’t be getting back up like in the Garcia fight. He was down six times in that fight, but only three were counted.

“Get you three or four chickens, $25 a piece. You’re going to need to chase some chickens around if you’re going to catch Devin Haney,” said Tim Bradley on his channel, talking about Brian Norman Jr. needing to use chickens to prepare as his training prep for Haney.

Norman Jr.’s Clinch Counter

The movement is only one part of Haney’s game that Norman Jr. will have to solve. The constant holding is just as bad a problem that he’ll need to figure out. If Norman Jr. can work on fighting through the clinch during camp, that might help him. What Ryan Garcia did was take advantage of Haney’s habit of diving in to hold by nailing him with perfectly timed left hooks as he was reaching to grab him.

“That boy is going to be moving all around the ring. You don’t need no human,” said Bradley about Haney. “You need some chickens. If you don’t get you some chickens, you’re not going to catch Haney. He’s not going to be touched. It’s going to be one of those difficult fights. You’re going to be frustrated.”

It will be frustrating for Norman Jr and the fans who ordered the fight on PPV. If Turki has the ring size reduced to a 16 x 16, that would help. Another thing would be for him to remind the fighters of his directive not to engage in “Tom and Jerry” fights. Turki can just tell both fighters without singling out Haney, but obviously, he would be the one it’s directed at.

“He’s not going to be standing there. He ain’t going to be a fool like he was against Ryan Garcia,” said Bradley about Devin. “He’s not going to exchange with you. He’s got to watch that left hook of yours. He’s going to tie Norman’s a** up. Norman is going to have to fight him off. He’s going to have to put some bug spray on him or something.”

Haney learned his lesson from the Kingry fight that he can’t afford to exchange with his opponents; hence, that’s why he was on the move nonstop for the May 2nd card at Times Square in New York City. For the Ryan fight, Devin had tried to brawl with him because he felt he could deal with him. He was the favorite and coming off a win over Regis Prograis.

Haney’s Chin Will Fail

“The chickens are important in this. I still think he’s done. If he gets touched on the chin by Brian Norman Jr, he’s going to go down that same road he went against Ryan Garcia. Face down, a** up in the air,” said Bradley.

When Norman Jr. does eventually land on Haney, he’s going to go down. The only question is will he get back up?
