Terence Crawford Vows Mount Rushmore Status After Defeating Canelo Alvarez on September 13th Superfight

Today’s press conference between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford was a little calmer than the previous one to promote their September 13th superfight on Netflix at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Canelo vs. Crawford: Netflix Superfight

Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) sounded like a broken record at times, telling the media repeatedly that he was going to wind up being placed on “Mount Rushmore” after he defeats undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs). He seemed irritated at the end with the questioning.

Canelo Alvarez: “I always try to respect my opponent. I think Turki Alalshikh told him he needed to do something, and he did. I respect his words. If you f*** with me, it’s going to be different,

Terence Crawford: “Turki didn’t ask me to do anything.”

Canelo: “We know.”

Crawford: “I stepped to him to show him who is the boss of s***.”

Canelo: “You say that you fight nobody. You look like a great fighter. You’re going to see on September 13th.”

Crawford: “The last fight you fought wasn’t on my left. When I beat you, are you going to be a nobody? You’re going to be like everybody else.”

Canelo: “I’ve been in his situation before. It’s going to be a good fight. He’s a good fighter.”

Crawford: “A great fighter. That means you’re a good fighter, and Bivol is a great fighter.”

Canelo: “You’re a good fighter, but I’m great.”

Crawford: “I’m a big fan of Canelo, but I think I’m better. With the tools that I have, I can do anything. On September 13th, I’ll be the time undisputed. If I get the credit, I get the credit. If I don’t, I still get the win.”

Canelo: “We’ll see on September 13th [if he’s still got something left].”

Crawford: “When I fight somebody that they portray to be great, I show they’re nobody. Like I said, I’m going to make people cry when they go home.”

Canelo: “A win against him will be one of the best of my career.”

Crawford’s Mount Rushmore Claim

Crawford: “After this fight, after I beat Canelo, I’m going to be on Mount Rushmore.”

Canelo: “Yeah, why not? [fighting Dmitry Bivol again].

Crawford: “I’m a way better fighter now. You can doubt me, but I’m sure I’m walking away with my hand raised.”
