Hard to ig-Nor
Christian Norgaard is set for an awkward reunion with an Arsenal star should he make the move from Brentford.
The Bees’ captain is subject to a £9.3million bid from the Gunners and would be the replacement for Thomas Partey.
He has made his mark in the Premier League as a tough-tackling midfielder.
And it was this aggressive nature that saw him on the receiving end of a dig from Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli.
The Brazilian accused Norgaard of trying to break his leg when the teams faced off in April.
Speaking after the game, the forward said: “I didn’t see that again but in the moment, if my foot was on the floor, he could break my leg.
“He [Norgaard] said he didn’t mean it. I believe him but still he could have broke my leg. For me it was red.
“I need to see it again to be sure. But for me it was nasty.”
Toon in Isak fight
Newcastle are desperate to keep star striker Alexander Isak amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Toon forward still has three years remaining on his contract, but club bosses are eager to extend the deal.
Isak currently earns around £150,000 a week – less than team-mates Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
According to The Times, Newcastle would be willing to make Isak the club’s highest-paid player EVER in order to stay.
Former captain on Nico Williams.
Ex-Arsenal skipper William Gallas is gutted that Nico Williams appears to not be heading to the Emirates this summer.
Speaking to Prime Casino, the Frenchman said: “It’s a big shame that it looks like Nico Williams isn’t going to Arsenal, we always love to see the best players in the Premier League and he would be one of them.
“I think his target is to stay in Spain and potentially join Barcelona. The football suits him well and he could form a partnership with Lamine Yamal.
“It’ll be sad for Raphinha because he has played so well and extended his contract, maybe if he is going to keep his place then Bayern Munich could push to sign Williams.”
Gunners chasing attacking midfielder
Arsenal are interested in signing RB Salzburg star Dorgeles Nene, according to reports.
The 22-year-old attacker has impressed in the Austrian top flight since coming through the club’s ranks.
According to Africa Foot, Nene is also attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayer Leverkusen.
Ex-Arsenal star on transfer target
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a swoop for Real Madrid star Rodrygo this summer.
But their former skipper William Gallas reckons they could stick with Gabriel Martinelli instead.
Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas said: “Rodrygo might want to leave Real Madrid, but that doesn’t mean he will want to play for Arsenal.
“I think it’s important that Arsenal stick with Gabriel Martinelli because we have seen the level he can perform at.
Things are difficult for Rodrygo at the moment but Arsenal might be better off sticking with what they have.”
Liverpool enter Gyokeres race
Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer amid rumours of a Darwin Nunez exit.
Gyokeres, 27, has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United after scoring 54 goals across all competitions last term.
The striker is thought to have told current outfit Sporting Lisbon that he wants to leave during the summer window, but is yet to have made any significant steps towards an exit.
That has opened the door for Liverpool to enter the race for his signature, with the Reds said to be interested in Gyokeres as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez.
According to Portuguese outfit CMJornal, Liverpool have shortlisted Gyokeres as a target with Nunez looking set for a switch to Italian club Napoli.
