MANCHESTER UNITED have made a shock move to sign Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku, according to reports.
The Red Devils have contacted the attacker’s agent to discuss a possible switch to Old Trafford.
Nkunku is looking to leave Chelsea this summer after struggling for Premier League minutes under Enzo Maresca.
The Frenchman featured mainly in the Conference League and made just nine starts in the Prem last term, scoring three goals.
Nkunku’s contract runs until 2029, but Chelsea could be open to cashing in this summer.
French outlet L’Equipe claim Man Utd have spoken to the player’s entourage in recent days.
But the club are yet to approach Chelsea and make an offer for him.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been linked with Nkunku.
Ruben Amorim is keen to add at least another two attacking players to his squad before the start of the season.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo remains an option despite interest from his old boss Thomas Frank at Tottenham.
United saw an initial bid worth £45m plus £10m in add-ons rejected by the Bees.
They are thought to be holding out for around £60m.
Reports from The Times claim Mbeumo wants a £250,000-a-week pay packet, which would be five times the £50,000-a-week he currently earns.
Man Utd also want a new No9 with Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen targeted.
