Man Utd submit HUGE second offer for Bryan Mbeumo… and he could team up with Christopher Nkunku in new look attack

MANCHESTER UNITED have made a second bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in excess of £60million.

The Red Devils had an opening £55m deal rejected by the Bees for the Cameroon forward, who is also wanted by his old boss Thomas Frank at Tottenham and Newcastle.

Mbeumo, 25, is viewed as a top summer target for Ruben Amorim after United scored just 44 goals in the Premier League last season.

Brentford are believed to be weighing up the raised offer with talks between the clubs continuing after the west London club turned down an initial bid of £45m plus £10m in add-ons.

Mbeumo has one year left on his contract and United hope to land the attacker before they report back to Carrington for pre-season from the week commencing July 7.

Amorim wants Mbeumo to team up with Matheus Cunha, who has already signed from Wolves in a £62.5m deal, in his new-look attack.

United have also been offered the chance to sign Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku again this summer.

The French forward was considered by Amorim in January as a short-term solution to their goal scoring problems.

And in recent weeks it has been pushed again by his current club and the players’ representatives.

Chelsea are looking to offload him after beating United to the signature of Liam Delap earlier this summer.

Back in January it was raised as a possibility as Chelsea made their interest known in Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentinian is up for grabs again – and angered fans after he posed in one of Marcus Rashford’s Aston Villa shirts on holiday this week – and he has been linked with the Blues.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was asked about Nkunku’s future last night ahead of the Club World Cup clash against Tunis in the early hours of Wednesday morning and said: “Christo is with us. He’s our player.

“He’s doing very well in the last four or five days, to be honest. So, probably, we can think to give him some chances.

“For sure, tomorrow we’re going to make a rotation because the ones that played two games, they are quite tired to play again. So we need to make a rotation and we see if there is any chance for the ones that, in this moment, they are not playing a lot.”
