Some fans want Turki Alalshikh to implement a 16-foot ring for the Shakur Stevenson vs. William Zepeda fight to improve the chances of it being entertaining and not a “Tom and Jerry’ involving a lot of running on July 12th in Queens, New York.
Shakur-Zepeda: Ring Size Impact
Currently, the ring size is 18 x 18, but there’s a strong belief mong people that Shakur (23-0, 11 KOs) will still have enough room to sprint away from Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs), making the fight pure poison for the eyes. If it’s not too late, a 16-foot ring would be perfect for the event to maximize entertainment value from fighters who choose to move all night, like Shakur.
DAZN PPV Value Worries
Considering this event is being broadcast on DAZN PPV for $59.99 in the U.S. and £24.99 in the UK, there needs to be a special measure in place to increase the chances that fans get value for their money.
We don’t want furious fans afterward, vowing never to order another PPV fight after watching Shakur run around an 18-foot ring, trying to evade Zepeda at all costs.
Following the disappointing performance at Turki’s Times Square event by Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez, the ring must be reduced to a 16 x 16 for the July 12th event at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. It’s impossible to help boxing if fighters are running around the ring, trying not to get hit, and boring the life out of the viewers.
Unsold Tickets: Fight Effect
There are still a massive number of unsold tickets for the event on Ticketmaster, and you’ve got to suspect that fans are turned off by the idea of seeing Stevenson fighting.
He’s not the right guy for such a prestigious spot on Turki’s card. Shakur-Zepeda should have been positioned lower on the card beneath these entertaining fights
- Alberto Puello vs. Subriel Matias
- David Morrell vs. Imam Khataev
Those fights promise to bring more action than the Shakur-Zepeda fight. That’s why it would be a good idea to place that fight below those for the July 12th event.
