Transfer biding war – EXCLUSIVE

Birmingham will battle it out with Southampton to sign Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest.

Both Championship outfits want a permanent deal for the midfielder who is being chased by other clubs looking at loans.

O’Brien, 26,  was shunted out to Los Angeles and Swansea among others after his 2022 Forest move went sour but still has a year left on his deal.

Brum are  building after  promotion and O’Brien’s experience would help, while Saints are keen to bounce back up.

Birmingham are also closing in on a return for winger Demarai Gray, 28, from Saudi side Al-Ettifaq and are one of the clubs — alongside Derby and Wrexham — chasing Craig Dawson after the centre-half, 35, left Wolves.

Courtois to sign new deal at Real

Thibaut Courtois will reportedly sign a new deal at Los Blancos after the Club World Cup and has stated he’d love to retire at the Spanish giants.

The Belgian has been one of the best goalkeepers on the planet for almost a decade.

Courtois has won two Champions Leagues and three LaLiga titles since joining Real in 2018.

It is understood that Madrid had their sights on Arsenal’s David Raya if Courtois had departed.

Martinez to Man Utd – EXCLUSIVE

Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez is trying to push through a dream move to Manchester United.

Emi is big pals with Argentina team-mate Lisandro Martinez and is keen to move.

He has already knocked back a couple of big hitters in the hope of joining United.

[Ruben] Amorim is a huge admirer of his. He tried to sign him for Sporting [Lisbon] in 2020 but lost out to Villa.

He wants to fill the squad with captains and leaders and Emi fits the bill perfectly.
