Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Super Fight Set for September 13th at Allegiant Stadium, Live on Netflix

It’s now official that the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford super fight on September 13th will be staged at the 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The event will be shown live on Netflix.

Allegiant Stadium Hosts Canelo-Crawford

It will be interesting to see if Allegiant Stadium sells out. While there’s interest in the fight from fans, it’s not been much different from Canelo’s other recent fights. Crawford has been active enough in his career over the last five years to keep his popularity high.

He’s been chosen for this fight not out of fan demand, but because Turki Alalshikh likes him. So, there are questions whether fans will want to see the fight live, because many of them are not fans of Crawford. They’re Canelo fans.

Canelo-Crawford was expected to be held in this venue once it was announced that the fight would take place in Las Vegas. It’s a large enough venue to seat the many fans that are traveling from California, Arizona, and Texas to see Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).

Turki Alalshikh’s Fight Vision

Turki Alalshikh revealed last week on X that he wants “young, hungry fighters who deserve the chance to perform under the bright lights.” He views Canelo-Crawford as “the biggest fight,” and he doesn’t think it needs to have an undercard filled with great fights.

He mentioned wanting these fighters for the undercard:

– Junto Nakatani
– Christian Mbilli
– Mohammed Alakel
– Reito Tsutsumi
– Justin Viloria
– Emiliano Alvarado
– Jamar Talley
– Abdullah Mason
– Nishant Dev

Legacy Fight: Crawford’s Big Payday

It’s a fight that Crawford wants a lot more than Canelo, as it’s a big payday for the Nebraska native, and he feels that it will cement his legacy as the #1 all-time great. It also gives Crawford the chance to become a three-division undisputed champion. He’s previously captured undisputed championships at 140 and 147.

He initially had shown interest in trying to do that at 154, but after the tough time he had against WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov last year, he gave up on that idea. With Canelo, all the belts have already been rounded up by him; he’s old with stamina problems, and Crawford stands a better chance of beating him than he would against the younger champions at 154.
