Fans Slam Ryan Garcia for Blaming Alcoholism & Bipolar Depression for Rolly Romero Fight Loss in NYC

Ryan Garcia surfaced today on X, telling his flock that he’s been an alcoholic for a year, and suffered from “bipolar depression disorder” going into his defeat to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on May 2nd at Times Square in New York.

No Revenge for Garcia?

Surprisingly, many of Kingry’s followers turned on him, lashing him for trying to whitewash his defeat to Rolly by cooking up excuses. It’s not what fans wanted to hear from their hero. They wanted Garcia to show toughness, vow to get revenge against Rolly (17-2, 13 KOs), the way a soldier would in war if his company had lost a crucial battle, with half the platoon being decimated by the enemy. It’s about coming back to get revenge. That’s what fans wanted to hear from Kingry.

“People have to remember that boxing ain’t for the weak. I came off a year of being an alcoholic, suffering from bipolar depression disorder. I’m fine with the judgment, but I’m ready to come back and show you that you can come back from anything,” said Ryan Garcia on X.

What’s missing is Ryan’s ruthless desire for revenge, to retaliate with fire for fire. That would be a normal reaction in war, and it’s what fans expect from him. It’s not there. Instead, Garcia is making excuses and letting Rolly escape with his win.

Is Garcia a Pacifist?

People expect Ryan (24-2, 20 KOs) to at least try to avenge his loss by retooling and coming back stronger for a second fight. However, maybe he can’t. The $20 million Garcia received for the Romero fight may have taken the hunger away, weakening him mentally to the point where he has become a pacifist and no longer wishes to fight. He no longer has the fight left in him, and just wants to sit on the sidelines, letting others fight his battles.

It won’t be long before Rolly loses again, because he’s totally flawed. Put him in with one of the good contenders at 147, and he’ll lose his WBA ‘regular’ welterweight belt.
