Bayern Munich 10 (TEN) Auckland City 0: Germans demolish team of forklift drivers and estate agents but Kane draws blank

BAYERN absolutely schooled a part-time Auckland team containing teachers and uni students – even though goals-master Harry Kane did not net.

In embarrassing scenes for the competitiveness of this controversially-expanded Fifa tournament, Bundesliga champions Munich were six up by half-time.

That was thanks to braces from Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, along with strikes from Sacha Boey and Thomas Muller.

Kane surely could not believe he had not got in on the action as he was subbed off just after the hour following a rare blank.

But his replacement Jamal Musiala scored a hat-trick in the final 22 minutes before Muller made it TEN.

The gap in class in Cincinnati was farcical as Bayern bulldozed a side containing estate agents, sales reps, barbers and a forklift-truck driving goalkeeper.

New Zealand minnows Auckland qualified for the Club World Cup by being among the highest-ranked Oceanic sides in the last four years.

But their amateur players had to use up annual leave in their day-jobs to take part in the tournament – with some even having to stay at home after not being able to secure the time off.

While left-back Nathan Lobo, 22, will be sitting a university exam from his hotel room during the competition.

It must have felt like a holiday for Bayern though as they dominated, netting their first through a Coman header on six minutes.

The France star then turned provider to tee up defender Sacha Boey who drilled home on 18 minutes, sparking a three-goal rush in as many minutes.

On 20 minutes, Olise had his fifth goal in five games by slotting in a Muller cross after England captain Kane had miskicked the delivery in the middle.

Sixty seconds later it was four when Coman held off two defenders to find the corner.

Olise supplied the cross for Muller to make it five just before the break – and there was still time for the ex-Crystal Palace man to find the corner in style ahead of the interval.

Kane was subbed off before he could add his name to the scorers’ list.

But his replacement Musiala curled home a stunning seventh, won and converted a penalty for number eight and then pounced on a goalie error to roll in a ninth for his treble.

Veteran Muller notched for double figures late on for, unsurprisingly, the biggest win in this tournament’s history.

Club World Cup 2025 Guide

Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Man City, and Inter Miami are among the 32 teams taking part in the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13.

Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Ousmane Dembele, Cole Palmer and Harry Kane will be showing their skills to packed crowds across the US.

Los Blancos are favourites to lift the trophy in New York but will face stiff competition from around the globe.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the tournament…
