Travis Kelce’s NFL career is approaching its end.
No one knows when the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is retiring yet, but there’s a sense of urgency to make the most of the here and now with Kelce alongside Patrick Mahomes.
One way Kelce hopes to do this is by getting into better shape. This offseason, he’s reportedly lost 25 pounds.
“He’s expected back for minicamp,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on SportsCenter. “He’ll address the media and be on the practice field, all that fun stuff. And he will debut a little bit of a slimmer look. He’s told people close to him that he’s lost about 25 pounds this offseason. (He) played a little heavier in 2024, it was sort of a thing, he vowed to change it, and he has.”

Fowler went on to say this could be Kelce’s “last dance.”
“As we talked about before, this could be the last dance here for him, mid-30s, still a productive player, they want to go him on third down, but (he’s) declining a little bit,” Fowler said. “He’s trying to be slimmer and has gone hardcore this offseason to make it work in what could be his final season.”
Kelce’s normal yards after catch ability felt diminished in 2024.
Then the Chiefs went and had a brutal Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, too.
Kelce clearly wanted to make up for some of that, and one of the ways he could do it was by getting in the best shape of his life to maximize his potentially final season. That’s certainly a worthwhile pursuit.
