Penn State star and Cowboys standout Micah Parsons gets promising contract update

Former Penn State star and current Dallas Cowboys standout Micah Parsons is arguably the best edge rusher in the NFL. On his best days, there’s a strong argument to be made that Parsons is the best defender in the NFL.

However, the Cowboys haven’t valued him enough to give him the contract he’s certainly seeking.

Some have suggested that Parsons could be the most expensive non-quarterback in NFL history, and that makes plenty of sense given what he’s done throughout his young career.

After impressing at the highest of levels in his college career at Penn State, Parsons has turned it up another notch in the NFL, posting 52.5 sacks throughout his first three seasons.

As Jerry Jones searches for a potential contract, it remains uncertain when he’ll finalize the deal and offer the terms Parsons is seeking.

However, according to a report from Clarence Hill, Parsons confirmed that he and Jones had a meeting, and the numbers they discussed were in the same ballpark.

“Parsons confirmed to the DLLS Cowboys that he and Jones had a meeting of the minds on contract numbers that both were comfortable with. He told Jones what he wanted and Jones was amenable to it. He also told Jones to call his agent David Mulugheta to finalize the terms and the language,” Jones said.

The longer the Cowboys wait to get a deal done with Parsons, the higher the price will be.

With guys like T.J. Watt and others needing contracts, the last thing the Cowboys want to do is have another edge rusher sign a massive deal. If that happens, Parsons’ contract will only go up a couple of million dollars.
