The Dallas Cowboys made a crazy trade in the early part of May when the team traded for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
Pittsburgh traded for Seattle Seahawks star receiver DK Metcalf at the start of the offseason, so there was always a chance Pickens would be traded.
It was a shock that Pickens was traded after the NFL Draft, but now the Cowboys have their No. 2 wide receiver, who is playing on the last year of a four-year, six-million-dollar contract.
The Cowboys received a lot of high praise for the move, and Gary Davenport from Bleacher Report thinks it was one of the best moves of the offseason.
“The Dallas Cowboys head into every season with Texas-sized aspirations, but the team also had a 10-gallon hole at wide receiver opposite CeeDee Lamb,” Davenport wrote. “George Pickens had an up-and-down three years in Pittsburgh, but he never had less than 800 receiving yards in a season and the potential to be an excellent No. 2 receiver in Dallas. For a Day 2 pick in 2026 (plus a pick swap), Pickens is more than worth the risk.”

The Cowboys knew they had to add another playmaker to the offense, and Pickens was the best available player to target after the draft.
Pickens is playing for a contract this season, and there is no better place to play than in an offense that has CeeDee Lamb, who can free other players up to make plays.
