Richardson Hitchins Vows “Bloody Massacre” Against George Kambosos Jr. in IBF Light Welterweight Title Defense

Richardson Hitchins is predicting a “bloody massacre” of George Kambosos Jr. in the first defense of his IBF light welterweight title this Saturday, June 14th, in their headliner at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) says he wants to see “blood” and leave Kambosos’ face all messed up.

Kambosos Jr. Career on Brink

Hitchins vs. Kambosos are headlining on DAZN on Saturday. The event starts at 7:00 PM ET / 4:00 PM PT. The former unified lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. (22-3, 10 KOs) is desperate to keep his career going, as he comes into this fight with a 2-3 record in his last five fights.

To maintain his marketability and continue to secure big paydays, George must win this fight. The problem is, he lacks the power and size to have much of a chance of pulling off the upset against Hitchins.

“I’m ready to put hands on this boy. That’s what it’s about. Proving myself, and I’m doing that slowly but surely,” said Richardson Hitchins to Fighthype about his title defense against George Kambosos Jr. this Saturday. “You work hard and you get what you deserve, and I’m getting what I deserve.”

If Richardson can’t knock out Kambosos, it doesn’t say much about him. Kambosos has arguably lost four out of his last five fights, and he’s getting this opportunity off his name recognition only. He certainly didn’t earn a title shot against Hitchins. If Richardson were more popular and had a fan-friendly style, he wouldn’t need to fight guys like George. He’d be fighting the popular fighters, like Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, and Ryan Garcia.

Hitchins’ “Bloody Massacre” Prediction

“I definitely need more knockouts on my record,” said Richardson about what he needs to become a superstar. A massacre. I’m not satisfied until I see George Kambosos bleeding. I want to see blood. I want to see a lot of blood. His face all f**** up. That’s what I want to see,” said Hitchins about what he wants for his fight against Kambosos on Saturday.

Richardson Lacks Killer Instinct

Hitchins has been needing more knockouts on his record, but it’s not happened. He had to know things were looking desperate for him when he was booed by fans for his boring, non-hit-and-not-get-hit style in his fights against Gustavo Lemos, Jose Zepeda, and John Bauza. He lacks the killer instinct.

“That’s the statement I want to make. Send him back to where he came from, back across the pond. Yeah, a bloody massacre. That’s my prediction. That’s definitely my prediction. I’ll make it happen,” said Hitchins.

Richardson hasn’t shown the kind of power and aggressiveness to defeat Kambosos in a “bloody massacre.” That’s not his style of fighting. He’s like a blend of Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney with his defensive, non-engaging style of fighting.

For him to knock out Kambosos, he would need to change his fighting style entirely, which at this point in his career is impossible. He’s too set in his ways.
