Broncos top offseason moves land high on list of best made in 2025 offseason

The 2025 NFL offseason has featured several big moves in free agency and the NFL draft. There have also been some big trades sprinkled in.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report decided to list the 25 best moves made this offseason, and the Denver Broncos took one of the top spots on the countdown.

Davenport couldn’t just pick one move the Broncos made, instead grouping the free-agent signings of Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw — both from the San Francisco 49ers — was the direction he went in. He also lumped in the team’s first-round selection of Jahdae Barron. Basically, the team’s effort to make the defense even better impressed Davenport. That ended up being in the No. 7 spot on his top 25 list.

“Last year, the Broncos ranked seventh in total defense and third in scoring defense on the way to the postseason. The team made a concerted effort to get even better on that side of the ball in the offseason, poaching a pair of quality starters from the San Francisco 49ers in safety Talanoa Hufanga and linebacker Dre Greenlaw and using their first pick in the 2025 draft on a top cornerback prospect in Jahdae Barron of Texas”, wrote Davenport.

The Broncos have the pieces to have the best defense in the league, something that has already been predicted. But have they done enough on offense?

Notably, the No. 6 spot on Davenport’s list was the coaching hires of Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly, made by the Broncos’ bitter rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hufanga and Greenlaw, despite coming with some injury concerns, have a chance to provide a major boost to what was already a great defensive unit. Barron, chosen as the Jim Thorpe Award winner as the best defensive back in college football last season, could be the piece that puts the defense over the top.

The Broncos, so long as they can stay healthy, won’t be a picnic for any team to go up against this coming season.
