Kelvin Davis apologized for the actions of his brothers, Keyshawn and Keon Davis, in an altercation that occurred last night with Nahir Albright in Norfolk, Virginia. He showed maturity and class by apologizing for his brothers, Keon and Keyshawn.
Davis Denies Jumping Accusation
In the apology, Kelvin denied that Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) had been attacked, saying, “We didn’t jump nobody.” Albright claims he was head-butted and punched by Keyshawn after he and Keon went to his changing room following his 10-round majority decision win over their older brother, Kelvin.
Ideally, it should have been Keyshawn who sent the apology message to Albright, rather than his brother, who had just got beaten. Using Kelvin as the messenger looks weak.
It’s been a bad two days for Keyshawn, with him missing weight by 4.3 lbs, being stripped of his WBO lightweight title, his fight against De Los Santos canceled, and now the scuffle with Albright. He shouldn’t have been involved with Nahir because he wasn’t the one who lost. It’s not like Albright cheated to win. He out-punched and outworked Kelvin.
Albright had a large red lump on his forehead that he said was from the scuffle with Keyshawn. He says Terence Crawford and Davis’ coach, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, apologized to him for what went down.
Keyshawn Fans Defend Actions
Keyshawn’s fans are defending him, saying that head-butting him doesn’t count as being jumped. That bump on Albright’s head sure looked bad.
“BoMac and Terence Crawford came in and said, ‘Sorry for the inconvenience.’ That meant a lot. I’ve got a picture of us,” said Albright to the media. “Him being a champion and we’re talking about Crawford.”
Even after getting jumped, Albright was amped up about getting the chance to meet with Terence Crawford. It clearly meant a lot to him that he came and talked to him about what happened.
