Boxing Results: Mickey Bey destroys Escandon in brutal return

Mickey Bey reminded everyone he’s not done yet. In the main event of Swift Promotions’ “The Future Is Now: Series II” card in Newtown, Pennsylvania, the former world champ hammered Oscar Escandon into submission in just three rounds.

Bey (26-3-1, 14 KOs) came out loose, fast, and locked in. Escandon (27-10, 18 KOs) never got going — a clean left hook opened a cut early, and by the end of round one, it was clear who the sharper man was. Bey dropped him at the end of round two and again halfway through the third, forcing referee Eric Dali to wave it off at 2:03.

“I didn’t want to rush it,” Bey said afterward. “I let my body do what I trained for.”

He called himself the “Time Machine,” and for once, a fighter using that nickname actually meant it. The 40-year-old showed he still has enough in the tank for another big-name fight — maybe two. If you thought this was a farewell tour, think again.

Garcia flattens another, Kuchmenov and Gonzalez cruise, Rodriguez returns

The undercard was loaded with young, violent talent.

David Garcia, 16 years old and already fighting like a veteran killer, didn’t waste time. He blitzed MMA crossover Marcelino Rangel and stopped him with a ruthless finish at 2:53 of the first round. Four fights in, and Garcia already looks like one of the best prospects in the country.

Kuchmenov? A monster. The 5’10” Russian super featherweight walked down Diuhl Olguin for six one-sided rounds. Every punch landed like it was personal. Olguin didn’t answer the bell for round seven — and nobody blamed him. Judges had it 60-54 across the board.

18-year-old Elijah “Macho” Gonzalez landed one of the cleanest right hands of the night. He stopped Codi Chavez in the fourth round after dropping him twice. Gonzalez boxed with bad intentions — the kind that gets you noticed fast.

Jonathan Rodriguez returned from nearly a year out and banked eight safe rounds over Jesus Martinez. Not spectacular, but solid. The 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73 cards reflected total control. He got the work in.

Thanjhae Teasley stayed unbeaten with a dominant six-round sweep of Nelson Morales. Left hooks to the body did most of the damage, but Morales, as usual, wouldn’t fold. Judges gave it to Teasley clean: 60-54 all around.

Rommel Dunbar Jr. opened the show with a wide four-round win over Denzel Bowlding. Solid debut. Clean boxing, good pace, and smart body work down the stretch.
