Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones arrest: Ex-Bengals star charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer

Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones played in the NFL from 2005-2018, except for the 2007 and 2009 seasons. The cornerback was an All-Pro in 2014 with Cincinnati, but he had a problematic career overall.

Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season because of an altercation and shooting at a strip club. He was consistently involved with law enforcement throughout his career, and that has persisted even after his retirement. Jones was arrested again on Saturday morning in Kenyon County, Kentucky.

Here is more on Jones’ latest arrest.

Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones arrest

Jones was arrested early on Saturday morning in Covington, Kentucky. Officers responded to “a report of a disturbance involving a customer and an employee at a bar,” per the WCPO. Jones was subsequently taken into custody.

Allegedly, while he was being booked, he assaulted the officer. Jones was charged with assault of the officer, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Jones was eventually released after posting a bond at 11:32 a.m. ET and has a court date set for Monday.

The disturbance occurred at the Second Story Bar on West Sixth Street. Per the arrest release, when they arrived on scene they got reports that a car was trying to leave the area. The car was then pulled over in a traffic stop, and Jones was identified as a passenger.

Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones timeline of arrests and legal troubles

Jones has an extensive history with the law. Over the past 20 years, he has been charged nine times and has had three other interactions with the police that didn’t result in charges. His NFL career began with legal trouble as he was on probation for a fight in West Virginia during the 2005 NFL Draft.

The biggest incident of his career occurred in June 2007. He was involved in an incident at a nightclub during NBA All-Star weekend in February. Four months later, he was sought for questioning, but it was ruled that he didn’t have an involvement with a shooting that occurred during the incident. Jones did have to pay $11 million in a civil lawsuit and had to do 200 hours of community service. On top of that, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ruled to suspend Jones for the entire 2007 NFL Season.

He has been charged with two felonies, multiple instances of assaulting a police officer and several assault charges that were the result of his spitting on people.

His three most recent charges all occurred after he announced his retirement from the NFL. In 2023, he got too drunk on a plane and became disorderly. In 2024, Jones was charged with public intoxication and assault of a police officer at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. This most recent arrest involved alcohol intoxication and yet another alleged assault of a police officer.

Here is a look at Jones’ extensive legal history.

  • April 2005 — Was on probation for a fight in West Virginia.
  • September 2005 — Was belligerent, and cops were called when there were problems with the valet.
  • July 2005 — Charged with assault and felony vandalism from a nightclub altercation
  • February 2006 — Charged with felony obstruction, two misdemeanors obstructing police. Had a marijuana possession charge dismissed.
  • August 2006 — Charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication, which led to probation
  • October 2006 — Charged with misdemeanor assault
  • June 2007 — No criminal charges but was involved in a nightclub incident that included a shooting. Suspended entire 2007 NFL season.

  • September 2013 — Not officially charged, but cited with disorderly conduct
  • November 2017 — Charged with assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, harassment with bodily substance
  • September 2023 — Charged with misdemeanor alcohol intoxication, terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct
