Jaxson Dart already breaking the mold for New York Giants first-round QBs

New York Giants first-round quarterback Jaxson Dart is bringing a very different kind of energy than Big Blue is used to from its past first-round QBs.

Eli Manning was boring. He won a lot of games and will forever be a beloved Giant, but he was boring.

Daniel Jones was boring. He lost a lot of games and will forever be mocked as a Giants failure. And, again, he was boring.

Sure, Manning has flipped the narrative around his personality in his post-playing career. He and his brother Peyton have formed the NFL’s funniest on-air tag team. But while he was donning Giants blue, he was pretty lame.

Jones, meanwhile, is probably right where he belongs now. He’s battling for a starting job in the Midwest with the Indianapolis Colts, whose local media will fit his personality much better than the carnivorous New York scrum.

Now,after just a few weeks on the job, Jaxson Dart is doing one heck of a job breaking that Giants’ first-round QB mold.

Believe it or not, he’s actually a fun guy.

He’s been caught on camera several times this offseason having fun with teammates, ranging from headbutting Cam Skattebo at the Rookie Premiere event to going through scripted celebration handshakes with teammates during OTA sessions.

Yeah, Dart has an ‘it’ factor that his teammates will quickly warm up to, and it’s the kind of trait that quarterbacks either have or they don’t.

As for the on-field stuff, Dart has been flashing there, too.

Russell Wilson is expected to begin the 2025 season as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback. In fact, there’s virtually no debate about that. And while veteran Jameis Winston is a solid QB2 on the depth chart, it’s unlikely he’d vault into the starting lineup if Wilson gets injured or struggles. Instead, that role will belong to Dart, who, at some point in the 2025 campaign, will get his first taste of action as an NFL starter.

For now, he’s building the necessary chemistry with his teammates, who certainly seem to be taking a strong liking to the former Ole Miss star.
