Kelvin Davis Vows to Knock Out Nahir Albright This Saturday on ESPN+ Prelims

Welterweight prospect Kelvin Davis (15-0,8 KOs) predicts that he’s going to knock out Nahir Albright (16-2, 7 KOs) in their 10-round undercard fight this Saturday, June 7th, at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. Their fight will be on the ESPN+ preliminary card that starts at 5:10 p.m. ET / 2:10 p.m. PT,

The slender 6’1″ Kelvin is the older brother of Keyshawn Davis, who is headlining the event against Edwin De Los Santos. Kevlin’s opponent, Albright, last fought on October 14, 2023, losing a 10-round majority decision to Keyshawn. The fight results were later changed to a no-decision after Keyshawn tested positive for a banned substance.

Unlike Keyshawn, Kelvin didn’t have a great amateur career. He had a mediocre 25-13 record. In his five years as a pro, Kelvin has yet to take on a notable fighter. It makes sense because he’s not shown that he’s ready.

Albright gave Davis a lot of problems in that fight, staggering him in the eighth round, and coming on strong in the championship rounds to make it close. One judge scored it 95-95, which many boxing fans agreed was the best score of the three. Albright followed the same blueprint that Andy Cruz had used to defeat Keyshawn with pressure.

Kelvin Davis sees himself as a puncher, but he’s not. His eight knockouts have come against lower-level opposition. He’s yet to fight a contender. He was exposed last year in his fight against Kevin Johnson, struggling to win a 10-round majority decision.

Kelvin Davis Predicts Albright KO

“It’s definitely business. He’s just another name I got to get out of the way. On June 8th, we should see Kelvin Davis KO on Boxrec,” said Kelvin Davis to Fighthype about his prediction for his fight againt Nahir Albright this Saturday, June 7th at the Scope Arena.

Even if Kelvin wins this fight, he has not shown the talent to compete against top-tier fighters at 140 or 147. If he thinks he’s going to win this fight and compete with top welterweights, he’s kidding himself. He might beat some bottom 15-level contenders, but not the top 10 fighters. He’s too thin to swim with the sharks.

“I feel like that’s a bad mentality that he’s happy to go the distance,” said Kelvin about Albright’s mindset about being happy that he went the distance with Keyshawn in his last fight in 2023. “His mentality is different than mine because I’d be mad that I lost.”

Albright’s Keyshawn Fight Aftermath

It’s understandable why Albright should feel proud that he fought Davis to a standstill in 2023. With Keyshawn now holding the WBO 135-lb title, Albright should feel good that he gave Keyshawn a lot of problems.

Davis: “Kill His Dreams”

“He’s just happy for the opportunity. It’s been a long time since he was back on this stage. I’m going to kill his dreams on Saturday night in this card,” said Davis about Nahir. “When the bell rings, he’s going to have tunnel vision, and he’s going to come and bring the fight.”

Kelvin should be happy that his brother, Keyshawn, is letting him fight on his undercards, because without them, he’d be languishing in obscurity. He’s not shown the kind of talent to be on the main cards.

“I’m going to do my thing. We’re in Norfolk and I’ve got to protect my home turf. I’m going to do everything in my power to put this man to sleep. I just sized up with him. He is way too little for me. He’s coming up from 135 to 140. This is not only a regular 140-pounder. He’s fighting a 6’1″ 140-pounder that’s a puncher,” said Kelvin.

It wouldn’t be a shock if Albright beats Kelvin handily on Saturday night, and possibly stops him. If Albright fights at the same level he did two years ago against Keyshawn, he’ll be too good for Kelvin. That version of Albight beats Kelvin handily.
