Keyshawn Davis Dares Abdullah Mason to Fight Him Next During Press Conference

Keyshawn Davis tried to punk unbeaten lightweight contender Abdullah Mason on stage during today’s final press conference, daring the 21-year-old phenom to fight him next.

Davis Challenges Mason Publicly

After forcing Abdullah to agree to a fight, Keyshawn called on promoter Bob Arum to make that his next fight. Arum didn’t say anything about whether he would do that. It would be a lose-lose situation for Top Rank if Arum made the fight because one of these two would get exposed.

There’s a good chance that it would be Keyshawn. Top Rank has put a lot of money into trying to turn him into a star without getting him picked off by Andy Cruz and other talents like Raymond Muratalla.

Keyshawn Reacts to Mason Glazing

Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) showed a flash of jealousy with the praise the press conference monitor, Christinia Poncher, was showing toward the talented Mason 18-0, 16 KOs), who was being given the royalty treatment that he deserves by her as a young star on the rise at lightweight. The way Poncher was treating Abdullah, it was as if she were in the presence of a king. That ticked off Davis because this was supposed to be his show.

It was supposed to be Abdullah’s time to talk about his co-feature fight against Jeremia Nakathila, but Keyshawn made it about him after the lavish praise that Poncher was pouring on the young Mason.

Press Conference Disrupted by Davis

Keyshawn Davis: “So what you going to do?” said Davis during today’s final press conference.

Abdullah Mason: “We can do whatever. I’m pretty sure my team can put anything together.”

Keyshawn: “Are you going to put it together, sir. You’re the man in there.”

Mason: “I don’t want to talk to you right now.”

Keyshawn: “I bet you don’t.”

Mason: “I’ll let my hands do the talking.”

Keyshawn: “So, let’s do it next.”

Mason: “Okay, I’m pretty sure my team will accommodate that.”

Keyshawn: “No, no, no. Let me and you, let’s make it happen right now in front of everybody. After I knock De Los Santos out. After you knock this opponent [Jeremia Nakathila] out, let’s me and you fight next.”

Mason: “That’s what I’m here for.”

Keyshawn: “You’re here to fight me next?”

Mason: “That’s a bet.”

Keyshawn: “Bob [Arum], are you ready? Bob Arum, the man with the plan right there. He’s smiling. You like it. You’re going to get him hurt, Bob. You’re going to get him hurt. Where are you, pops. You’re walking him into something crazy now. You know it. Easy work.”

Abdullah: “I’m coming to do my thing and steal the show like I always do.”

Davis: “Against opponents. I’m far from that.”
