Bruins legend Brad Marchand gets special tribute in Boston ahead of Stanley Cup with Panthers

This was a miserable season for the Boston Bruins.

But when Bruins fans turn on the Stanley Cup Finals, they’ll see one of their own.

Brad Marchand was traded to the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline, and he’s got a chance to hoist the Cup once again.

Boston is watching. A statue of Edward Everett Hale in downtown Boston was given a Marchand jersey ahead of Game 1 on Wednesday.

Marchand is fifth all-time in points for the Bruins, with 976 points in 1,090 games.

He’s fourth in goals, with 422, and sixth in assists, with 554.

Marchand played the fourth-most games of any Bruins skater ever, at 1,090.

The Bruins picked Marchand 71st overall way back in 2006. That worked out OK.

He’ll try to add to his one Stanley Cup championship.

Marchand played 10 games in the regular season with Florida, getting two goals and two assists.

In these playoffs so far, he has four goals and 10 assists.

Marchand certainly knows this stage, and so do most of the Panthers as the defending champions. He’s the new guy in town, at 37 years old, and he’ll try to help them repeat. Bruins fans will certainly be cheering for him.
