‘I’m genuinely sorry’ – Nick Kyrgios to MISS Wimbledon after suffering injury setback following two years of hell

NICK KYRGIOS has issued an apology to tennis fans after confirming he will MISS Wimbledon this summer.

The Aussie ace has suffered injury issues over the last two years following his 2022 final defeat to Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios, 30, won his first singles match since 2022 at the Miami Open in March.

However, he then pulled out of the French Open with a knee injury.

He was scheduled to feature in the tournament in the men’s doubles along with fellow Aussie Jordan Thompson.

Kyrgios has now revealed he has suffered another setback and will not appear at Wimbledon this year.

He apologised in an announcement on Instagram for his 4.1million followers.

He wrote: “I’ve hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately, I won’t make it back for grass season this year.

“I know how much you’ve been looking forward to seeing me out there and I’m genuinely sorry to disappoint.

“This is just a bump in the road though and I’m already working hard to get back stronger than ever.

“Thank you for all your continued support – it means everything to me. See you soon.”

Wimbledon is scheduled to start later this month on June 30.

Nick Kyrgios breaks down in tears on court as tennis badboy forced to retire with future in doubt

Kyrgios still showed up at the French Open in a new role as he worked as a commentator.

He previously spoke about the prospect of being forced into an early retirement from tennis.

He said: “I don’t want to speak it into existence [retirement], but I strongly believe I’ve done the work for my wrist to hold up.

“I’m towards the later stages of my career, for sure.

“I think with this injury, win or lose, it’s just a bonus being out there.”
