Former Browns star gets brutal injury update ahead of key contract decision

The Browns’ offensive line projects to be much different next season.

Jedrick Wills, Cleveland’s former 10th overall pick, is likely to sit out for the upcoming season due to a lingering knee injury.

Wills injured his MCL in 2023, opted for surgery, and missed nine games. He missed 12 more the following season.

Jordan Schultz first reported that Wills is considering missing most or all of the upcoming season to fully heal from that injury. He believes it’s “the best move for the long-term future of his career.”

The 26-year-old started 45 games his first three seasons as a Brown. He’s played 13 in the past two seasons.

Now he’s a free agent with reported interest from multiple teams. Cleveland could be one of them but after this update that could all change.

The Browns’ front five projects to be Dawand Jones, Joel Bintonio, Ethan Pocic, Wyatt Teller, and Jack Conklin. Bitonio is a seven-time Pro Bowler and Teller has made the game three times, but they both play guard.

Sources: Free agent OT Jedrick Wills, who dealt with a lingering knee injury last season, is planning to sit out most — or possibly all — of the upcoming season to fully recover and get back to 100%.

Wills is a tackle and could reinforce the edge of the line to protect whoever ends up starting for the Browns.

But with this recent development Cleveland will have to trust that Conklin and Jones can be viable options. Jones is young a developing, while Conklin tore his ACL and MCL less than two years ago.

If they can come through it will make life much easier for the Browns’ next gunslinger.
