Joseph Parker Eyes Derek Chisora Trilogy on Usyk-Dubois 2 Undercard

Joseph Parker Eyes Derek Chisora Trilogy on Usyk-Dubois 2 Undercard

WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker says he’s interested in fighting a trilogy match against #2 IBF contender Derek Chisora on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois 2 on July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London.

Parker’s Chisora Trilogy Push

Parker (36-3, 24 KO) says the idea of fighting the 41-year-old Chisora is to stay “busy” while he waits to challenge the winner of the Usyk-Dubois fight.

It’s not a fight that the high-level British journeyman Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) would likely be interested in taking because he’s the IBF mandatory for Dubois, meaning that he’s in line to challenge the winner of his clash against Oleksandr. It would be Chisora’s 50th career fight, and he’d get a big payday before retiring. Derek will likely keep plugging along like a draft horse for as long as his promoters give him headliner gigs.

Supposedly, Derek is going to retire after his 50th fight. There are doubts whether he will because he’s still being given big paydays to fight low-level heavyweights. In Chisora’s last three fights, he’s beaten these soft fighters to earn the IBF mandatory spot:

– Otto Wallin
– Joe Joyce: 39
– Gerald Washington: 43 years old

There is no chance on earth that Chisora is going to put his IBF mandatory spot at risk against Joseph Parker after being beaten twice by him in 2021. It’s silly for Parker to even ask for the fight with Chisora because it has no chance of happening. Chisora is going to sit and wait passively for his big payday to fall into his lap against the Usyk-Dubois II smoke to clear to fight the winner, and make millions. Chisora is already rich with a net worth estimated at $15 million. It’s hard to believe how wealthy Chisora is for a journeyman who has never won a world title, and whose best career win is arguably Otto Wallin.

Derek has been vocal about wanting to fight a rematch with Usyk. Five years ago, Usyk defeated Chisora by a narrow 12-round unanimous decision in December 2020. It was Usyk’s second fight at heavyweight after moving up from cruiserweight in 2019 against Chazz Witherspoon.

Chisora’s Retirement Payday

If Chisora can get the rematch with Usyk, he could make upwards of $10 million. That kind of dough would cushion Derek’s retirement years, allowing him to live in grandeur in West London among the super-rich in areas like Kensington, Chelsea, Mayfair, and Knightsbridge.

“I know Usyk and Dubois are fighting on July 19, I’d like to either fight not long after that, or it’d be great if I could be on the same card,” said Joseph Parker to The Ring about wanting to fight on that card at Wembley Stadium.

Why Not Moses Itauma?

The question is, why isn’t Parker pushing for a fight against the hyped Moses Itauma? He’s fighting on the July 19th undercard and still doesn’t have an opponent. Where’s Parker’s backbone? He should be calling out Itauma to show fans that he’s not risk-averse.

“It’d be nice to fight someone like Derek Chisora is looking for his 50th fight, and I’m not sure if he’s going to fight for a title. I know I’ve beaten him twice, but I’ve never had a trilogy,” said Parker.

Trilogy Nobody Wants

I think I speak for everyone when I say, NO one wants to see a third fight between Chisora and Parker in this lifetime. Two was more than enough. Fans don’t want to see a third fight between these two because the last one was a complete mismatch with Parker dropping Chisora three times, and Chisora coming close to being knocked out repeatedly.

The only reason Chisora survived is that Parker looked scared to finish him each time he had him in trouble.
