Patriots cutting 4-time Pro Bowl receiver ‘on the table’, per report

Patriots cutting 4-time Pro Bowl receiver ‘on the table’, per report

The New England Patriots might be more upset than people suspect about their stud receiver’s behavior.

With four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs recently making headlines for off-the-field shenanigans, most Pats fans assumed that New England’s subsequent statement acknowledging the situation was merely designed to preserve the team’s all-business image (head coach Mike Vrabel essentially said he saw the video and would speak to Diggs).

But new intel from NFL broadcaster Scott Zolak indicates that things might be more serious behind closed doors than initially assumed concerning the Diggs-Patriots relationship.

Have things soured to the extent that … (gasp) the Patriots might even consider cutting Diggs?

While speaking on the Zolak & Bertrand show, Zolak said the following:

“I came to this show yesterday with the opinion — not (the) opinion, but the knowledge — that (cutting Diggs) is on the table … that it is being thought of.”

“And it’s not just the boat,” Zolak continued. “There are some other things that I’ve heard that put some things in question. ‘Are you all-in here’?

In March, the Patriots signed Diggs to a three-year, $63.5 million contract.

Cutting the 31-year-old would leave New England a WR1 short and anger thousands of Patriots fans months before the season has even begun.

Zolak’s comments were designed to stir the pot, and he succeeded in that regard.

There is no chance the Patriots are considering waiving Diggs. Could future events — on and off the field — result in New England cutting ties with the talented wideout? Sure. But as of now, there isn’t any discernible evidence to suggest that he won’t be catching passes from Drake Maye in the fall.
