Buffalo Bills predicted to end historic drought in 2025 NFL season

Buffalo Bills predicted to end historic drought in 2025 NFL season

The Buffalo Bills’ Super Bowl history is infamous.

No one will ever forget four consecutive trips to the last game of the season, all of them ending in losses and varying degrees of heartbreak. It’s tied for the most Super Bowl appearances without a win, and Bills Mafia had to experience it back to back to back to back.

But this new Bills era is the one that has the best chance to finally turn around that story. This Buffalo team, led by Josh Allen, can break through.

That’s what Sports Illustrated’s national NFL writer Connor Orr is predicting for the 2025 season — a Bills victory in the Super Bowl.

“Predicting the Eagles will return to the big game is a begrudging move on my part, but it’s a recognition that nearly all of the NFC front-runners have brutal schedules,” Orr writes. “Philadelphia is the one team that can handle the rigors of such a slate and win ugly consistently enough to make the dance. Meanwhile, the Bills have an amenable schedule that includes the Browns, Falcons, Panthers and Saints, as well as multiple cracks at the bottom rung of the AFC East. This slate will keep Josh Allen healthy and in berserker mode for the playoffs when Buffalo needs him most.”

Orr goes a step further in his new prediction article, adding that Allen will win Super Bowl MVP coupled with a big game from Khalil Shakir.

“By virtue of the Bills being in the game, and by virtue of the fact that the quarterback always gets the award (justice for Josh Sweat!), Allen will be your Super Bowl LX MVP in a meat grinder of a game against the Eagles in Santa Clara,” Orr writes. “Khalil Shakir will lead Buffalo in receiving with 112 yards and catch the game-winning touchdown, prompting general manager Brandon Beane to yell YOU LIKE THAT in the postgame locker room.”

There would certainly be epic celebrations and a historic parade in western New York if the Bills got this done.

They’ve come close but haven’t been able to get past the Chiefs in the AFC. Buffalo beats Kansas City in the regular season but falls short in the postseason.

The playoffs are dominated by superstar QBs in the AFC, from Patrick Mahomes to Lamar Jackson to Joe Burrow. Allen is the reigning MVP among all of them, though.

The Bills will need Josh at his superhero best to pair with a strong squad around him to reach the peak of the mountain. This might just be the year they get it done.
