Dolphins expected to trade $72.3 million veteran in ‘couple of weeks’, says Adam Schefter

Dolphins expected to trade .3 million veteran in ‘couple of weeks’, says Adam Schefter

The Miami Dolphins have been trying to find a trade partner for Jalen Ramsey for quite some time. Once the offseason began, both sides agreed it was best to part ways. At one point, Ramsey was even allowed to seek his own trade, though Miami still retains final say in any deal.

The decision to move on from Ramsey reportedly stems from strained relationships between the star cornerback and the Dolphins organization.

“I talked with their defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver about the situation and his quote kind of [explains] why the Dolphins and Ramsey are here. He said Ramsey has been a great player for us, but relationships are hard and he has chosen to move on,” Cameron Wolfe said.

A trade hasn’t happened yet primarily because Miami is unwilling to absorb a large portion of Ramsey’s contract. However, after June 1, a deal becomes significantly more manageable from a salary cap perspective.

“ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports ‘there’s more interest in Jalen Ramsey than people realize.’ Trade could be announced in June, potentially. Schefter notes if trade happens before, it wouldn’t be processed until after June 1 for cap reasons,” Barry Jackson posted.

On Tuesday, Schefter appeared on Get Up and provided a more specific timeline for when a trade could be completed. According to him, a deal may be just weeks away.

“The Miami Dolphins have been looking and open to dealing Jalen Ramsey, and there has been interest in and across the league. I think probably more than people realize and it certainly sounds like in the next couple of weeks, the Dolphins will be able to find a trade partner for Jalen Ramsey and he will be moving on yet again,” Schefter said.

Unless he’s traded back to the Rams or Jaguars, this move will make the fourth team of Ramsey’s NFL career. An impact player wherever he goes, Ramsey is expected to find a new home within the next few weeks.
