Cardinals trade pitch lands Giants’ million star, forms ‘dream duo’ with Marvin Harrison Jr.

The Arizona Cardinals are under pressure to bounce back after two straight disappointing seasons, and they’re working to assemble the roster they need to make it happen. This offseason, Arizona has focused heavily on acquiring young talent—players who could significantly shape the franchise’s future. Still, the Cardinals are exploring ways to continue improving their roster.

One possible move they could make is signing veteran safety Justin Simmons, whose presence would immediately boost their ability to generate turnovers.

“Arizona has Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson entrenched in starting safety roles, but neither of the two recorded an interception last season. The Cardinals need to force more turnovers. In 2024, they tied for 20th in takeaways. Simmons has 32 career interceptions in nine seasons. He can help Arizona with game-changing plays in coverage,” Moe Moton wrote.

On the offensive side, the future looks bright. Arizona boasts one of the most electrifying young receivers in the NFL—Marvin Harrison Jr. The second-year wideout has spent the offseason focused on physical development.

“I definitely put on some pounds,” Harrison told reporters. “I added some muscle to my body.”

The Cardinals have been in the market for another wide receiver, and veteran Keenan Allen has been a name linked to them. However, Arizona could take a different route and target a young star to pair with Harrison—someone like Malik Nabers, who’s also entering his second season with plenty of hype.

“Arizona being able to snag Nabers and slide him opposite of Marvin Harrison Jr. is what dreams are made of. Nabers is able to do the things that Harrison cannot, which would allow the latter to do the things he does best as a route runner and RAC producer,” Richie Bradshaw wrote.

A Harrison-Nabers duo would be one of the most exciting young receiver tandems in the league—potentially a pair Arizona could build around for years to come. While it may be difficult to retain both long-term, if it happens, they would form a nasty duo.
