Former NFL MVP teases forgoing retirement, return in 2025

Former NFL MVP teases forgoing retirement, return in 2025

It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers need an upgrade at quarterback…and there’s only one bonafide starting-caliber signal caller remaining on the market…but will he choose retirement over playing in 2025?

Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and sixth-round rookie, Will Howard make up the Steelers current quarterback room, and while Howard may be a somewhat intriguing option for Mike Tomlin and co. after the former Ohio State signal caller is fresh-off of a National Championship winning season with the Buckeyes, the sixth-round pick seems closer to throwing a dart at the dartboard over being ready to start Week 1 of the NFL season.

Is Rudolph, Thompson, or Howard the answer…or is a former four-time NFL MVP that just happens to still be available as June rolls around?

Former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback and future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers continues to add fuel to the fire of him potentially landing in Pittsburgh before training camp rolls around.

During a Q&A session with rapper, Mike Stud, a fan of the musician asked the perennial Pro Bowl signal caller if he’d ever consider playing in ‘The Windy City,’ which warranted quite the interesting response from Rodgers, who dropped a massive hint on his future in football.

“No, but I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,” Rodgers said. “I don’t know, not sure. Got to check it out. I love Chicago, though. Way more than they love me. It’s been a great relationship. All one way.”

It’s worth noting the Steelers play in Chicago against the Bears on Sunday, November 23 for a Week 12 showdown.

Earlier this month, Ian O’Connor, who wrote Rodgers’ 2024 autobiography, also dropped a major hint on if the former NFL MVP will play in 2025.

The soon-to-be 42-year-old remained a starting-caliber quarterback, last season, completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns in his return season after tearing his Achilles in 2023 during his first-game with the New York Jets.
