Browns predicted to make David Njoku contract decision to help Shedeur Sanders

It’s almost impossible to get a feel for what the Cleveland Browns want to do with their roster.

The Browns are an interesting team, and if Shedeur Sanders or any of the other four quarterbacks on the roster prove to be above-average talents, the Browns might be in a position where they can compete with some of the more average teams in the NFL.

If not, the Browns will likely have a similar year to the one they had in 2024.

After signing Myles Garrett to a massive extension, the Browns signaled that they plan to compete soon.

With that in mind, Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes that David Njoku, their star tight end, could be the next one in line to get a deal.

“The Browns took care of their big fish in Myles Garrett earlier this offseason, making a plausible next player up to get paid a touch more difficult. We settled on David Njoku, who is entering the final year of his contract in 2025.

“The veteran tight end was limited to 11 games last season, but still managed to be a solid outlet in the passing game, finishing the year with 505 yards receiving. His 64 receptions were the second highest of his career and were on pace to possibly net 100 receptions in 2024 had he played a full season. If Njoku can stay on the field, it could result in a career year, which will help him when he eyes a new deal next offseason,” he wrote.

Njoku has had injury problems throughout his career, but outside of that, he’s been very good. He’s coming off a year where he posted 505 yards in just 11 games.

In 16 games in 2023, the most games he’s played in his career, he finished with 882 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 10.9 yards per reception.

If he’s healthy in 2025, Njoku will likely get compensated fairly for a tight end.
