Cowboys’ Micah Parsons gets $40 million contract update with calls mounting

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons gets million contract update with calls mounting

It doesn’t make much sense that the Dallas Cowboys haven’t given Micah Parsons the contract he’s looking for.

Arguably the best defensive player in the NFL, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have to understand that at some point, he’ll get frustrated about this situation.

Searching for a potential deal, Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes that when the time comes, and it’s more of a matter of when than if, the Cowboys will hand him a deal that could exceed Ja’Marr Chase’s $40.25 million average annual value.

“It’s a matter of when rather than if the Cowboys will hand Parsons a contract extension. When they do, it’ll in all likelihood make the Dallas pass rusher the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Since coming into the league, Parsons has registered at least 12 sacks in all four of his seasons. He’s also been named an All-Pro in three of his four seasons and to the Pro Bowl every year. Parsons should eye a contract that exceeds Ja’Marr Chase’s $40.25 million in AAV,” he wrote.

Parson’s seems to be the type of player that would walk if the Cowboys don’t get a deal done with him before he eventually hits free agency. A four-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time All-Pro, and much more throughout his four-year career, Parsons has been as good as it gets.

He posted 12 sacks last season, the fewest amount of his career.

With 52.5 career sacks and controlling a Cowboys defense that needs to improve, losing him would be the worst scenario.

Even making him upset wouldn’t be ideal, so Jones and the rest of the front office need to start working on a contract as soon as possible.
