Should the New York Giants trade QB Jameis Winston?

Should the New York Giants trade QB Jameis Winston?

The New York Giants overhauled their quarterback room this offseason, adding veterans Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and first-round pick Jaxson Dart. It’s a far cry from the recent batch of passers coach Brian Daboll has been forced to field, ranging from Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, and Drew Lock.

Yeah, it’s been bad.

That’s why there’s so much cautious optimism around the Giants in 2025. Even a slight improvement under center could result in several more wins, especially with a defense as talented as New York’s.

But do the Giants have too many quarterbacks?

Jameis Winston could have surprising trade value for Giants

Winston was the first quarterback added in Big Blue’s roster overhaul, and he’s now the one who could offer the most in return if the Giants decide a trade makes sense.

Teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have yet to ink Aaron Rodgers, and the New Orleans Saints, who recently lost Derek Carr to retirement and have a history with Winston, could be viable suitors. The Tennessee Titans might want a veteran with experience behind Cam Ward.

The list goes on and on.

Indeed, trading Jameis Winston wouldn’t result in a massive haul of picks, but it would be a win even if the New York Giants could land a Day-3 selection for the former first-overall pick.

Jaxson Dart will eventually crack the starting lineup. It’s not a matter of if; it’s a matter of when. If Wilson struggles at any point in 2025, Winston will be bypassed for Dart, making the veteran journeyman nothing more than an early-season emergency option.

Winston is in the QB equivalent of no-man’s land, and if the Giants want to flip him into an extra draft pick in 2026, now’s the time.
