Colts underrated star could be in line for contract extension

The Indianapolis Colts face a make-or-break season amid a four-year-long playoff drought.

With the quarterback position up in the air entering the 2025 campaign, it will be crucial for the Colts to get as much as they can from the rest of the roster.

One spot that has been getting reliable production over the last two seasons has been at left tackle, where Bernhard Raimann has proven to be an underrated asset.

The former third-round pick is entering the final year of his rookie contract and could be next in line to receive an extension, per Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports.

Indy’s starting left tackle is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so he could ink an extension at any point this summer. Raimann has started all 29 of his games played over the last two seasons and has done so at a high level. Last year, Raimann ranked as the eighth-highest graded offensive tackle in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus’ metrics. So long as he continues that play in 2025, there’s no questioning that Raimann will land a sizable deal.

Raimann has gotten better every season he’s been in the NFL, and he may have been the league’s most underrated blindside protector during the 2024 campaign.

Among offensive tackles with at least 416 pass-blocking snaps, Raimann’s 20 total pressures allowed ranked 13th-best in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus.

Spotrac projected earlier this offseason that Raimann could be in line for a three-year deal worth $61 million on his next contract.

It will be interesting to see how the next campaign unfolds for Raimann, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the Colts tried to get him under a new contract before then.
