The Cleveland Browns don’t know who their quarterback will be yet, but they made an effort this season to upgrade their wide receiver room.
Unfortunately for the Browns, the New Orleans Saints turned down their advances.
Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer revealed in new reporting out this week that the Browns inquired with the Saints about Chris Olave, the former Ohio State star.
“The Saints got inquiries from the Browns and Steelers early in the offseason, and rebuffed them, and Olave’s had a really nice offseason since,” Breer wrote. “Maybe someone blows New Orleans away with an offer. But he’s not on the block, and I have a hard time thinking he’s going to be traded.”

It’s intriguing that the Steelers reached out, too. You have to think that was before they traded for DK Metcalf from the Seahawks. There has been various reporting that indicated Metcalf and the Steelers may not have been one another’s first choice.
Since then, of course, Pittsburgh has traded away WR George Pickens to the Cowboys.
The Browns’ top returning wide receivers are Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman.
Their most intriguing offseason addition at the position is former Steelers star Diontae Johnson, who played for three teams in 2024 in a struggle of a season.
Making a move or not might not matter if the Browns don’t solve the quarterback position. But Olave would’ve been a big boost both on the field and in Cleveland’s mindsets.
Instead, whichever of Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders is on the field, they’ll have to make it work with a couple proven pass catchers and a lot of uncertainty behind them.
