Cloud cover for Aston Martin as CoreWeave deal struck

Aston Martin has announced a new partnership with AI specialists CoreWeave to streamline its Formula 1 operation by moving infrastructure to cloud-based technology.

The deal will also support Aston Martin with car design, with AI engineering and cloud infrastructure speeding up the process.

“We’re thrilled to welcome CoreWeave to the team,” said Aston Martin executive chairman Lawrence Stroll.

“In the fast-paced world of Formula 1, AI cloud computing infrastructure is a decisive edge, and CoreWeave’s cutting-edge platform, purpose-built for accelerated computing, will be instrumental to unlock new levels of performance.

“United by a fierce ambition to win, we’re excited to harness the power of AI cloud computing together, transforming drive and passion into on-track results.”

As part of the multi-year agreement, CoreWeave will become Aston’s official AI Cloud Computing Partner, while the team’s new wind tunnel – which came online in March – will now be named the CoreWeave Wind Tunnel, while branding will appear on the cars of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll for this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix onwards.

“As a lifelong Formula 1 fan and a passionate supporter of Aston Martin, it’s an incredible opportunity to partner with a team that represents the cutting edge of performance and innovation,” said Brian Venturo, founder and chief strategy officer at CoreWeave.

“Formula 1 is a proving ground for what’s possible when talent, technology, and ambition align. With CoreWeave’s AI cloud platform, we’re excited to unlock new opportunities in data-driven engineering and help accelerate Aston Martin Aramco’s pursuit of excellence on and off the track.”

Aston’s 2026 preparations will be aided by the new wind tunnel, with F1 design guru Adrian Newey at the helm for the first time since joining from Red Bull.

This season’s Aston has struggled for performance but showed some promise following an upgrade at the Imola Grand Prix last weekend, where Alonso and Stroll qualified fifth and eighth, respectively before falling off in the race to finish outside of the points.
