The Atlanta Falcons may have unearthed a gem in undrafted free agency.
At least based on recent comments from Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, they’re feeling really good about their newest defensive back.
The potential gem: Cobee Bryant. A great name, and a great game.
Bryant was a four-year star at Kansas, earning three first-team All-Big 12 honors.
Some projections had him going as high as the fifth round, so his slide all the way out of the draft was a bit surprising.
The Falcons were glad to latch onto him as an UDFA.
“The amount of players that he’s played against and the guys that he’s able to compete against when you watch his tape is exciting,” Morris said. We were fortunate enough to be able to bring him here on a 30 visit and to get a chance to meet with him and get around him and really find some real interest and be able to grow.”

The Falcons weren’t going to let anyone else end up with Bryant.
“I knew what he can do. I knew what he was capable of,” Morris said. “Whoever we were competing with [to sign him] basically didn’t have a chance.”
Bryant had 13 interceptions in his collegiate career.
The Falcons only had five draft picks, so getting a potential roster piece in undrafted free agency was crucial.
Atlanta knows it has A.J. Terrell locked in to a cornerback spot, but beyond that, there’s opportunity.
Bryant appears primed to seize it.
