Will Aaron Rodgers play football in 2025?
It’s the worst-kept secret in the world that the Pittsburgh Steelers have real interest in bringing in Aaron Rodgers for a one-year stint as their bridge quarterback this season.
With just veterans Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and sixth-round rookie, Will Howard as their rostered quarterbacks, it’s not crazy to wonder why the Steelers would be interested in securing Rodgers’ services for the 2025 season.
However, it’s worth wondering why the Steelers, who clearly need a viable starting quarterback, and Rodgers, who likely doesn’t have any other options to be able to start, haven’t been able to come to an agreement as of yet.
While the Steelers and Rodgers continue to play hard to get with one another, Rodgers’ plans for this season potentially got spoiled by Ian O’Connor, who wrote the future NFL Hall of Famer’s ‘Out of The Darkness’ autobiography, last year.
During an interview on ‘93.7 The Fan’ O’Connor says he believes the former NFL MVP will ultimately end up signing with the Steelers prior to mandatory minicamp beginning on Tuesday, June 10
“I do think there will be a happy ending, at least for him and we will find out for the Steelers and their fan base,” O’Connor predicted. “If I had $100 to put down, my feeling is he will be in uniform June 10th, for the start of the mandatory minicamp.”
Rodgers, who turns 42 in December, was far from his former MVP self, but remained a starting-caliber quarterback in 2024. Last season, Rodgers, who was 41 fresh-off a torn Achilles injury, completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, and 28 touchdowns to just 11 interceptions.
