Boxing Results: “El Feroz” Unleashed: Fernando Vargas Jr. Delivers a Stoppage Masterclass Against Gonzalo Coria in Long Beach Main Event

Junior middleweight southpaw Fernando ‘El Feroz’ Vargas, Jr. (17-0, 15 KOs) stopped southpaw Gonzalo ‘El Mago’ Gaston Coria (23-8, 9 KOs) at 1:44 of the fourth round of a scheduled 10-round bout on Saturday night at Thunder Studios, Long Beach, California.

Coria backed up Vargas the entire second and third rounds. In the fourth round, Vargas landed a combination to the chin, and down went Coria for an 8-count from referee Raul Caiz, Jr., who halted the fight upon Coria getting up.

Light welterweight Nathan Devon Rodriguez (19-0, 13 KOs) knocked out Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ Buitriago (39-15-1, 23 KOs) in the fourth round of a scheduled ten-round fight.

In the second round’s final minute, Buitriago landed a flurry of punches. The shorter Buitriago slipped most of Rodriguez’s punches in the fourth round. When he fought back, he had an edge; otherwise, he allowed Rodriguez to win the round. Suddenly, the corner of Buitriago called a halt to Referee Gerald White. Buitriago had swelling under his left eye.

Super featherweight Angel Rodriguez (7-0, 7 KOs) stopped Alfredo Diaz (10-13, 9 KOs) at 0:30 of the third round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first round, with forty seconds remaining, Rodriguez landed a right on the chin, and down went Diaz for an 8-count from referee Kristi Rosario.

Middleweight Bryan ‘The Thrill’ Flores (20-2, 6 KOs) won a six-round majority decision over Jesse Lobito Gonzalez (7-4-1, 2 KOs).

In the first three rounds, Gonzalez may have an edge. In the fourth, Flores, in the final seconds, tackled Gonzalez to the canvas. In the last two rounds, it was close enough for a draw. Flores defeated 14 opponents with losing records.

The scores were 57-57, 59-55, and 59-55. Kristi Rosario was the referee.

Light welterweight Stephanie Simon (3-0) defeated Tanisha Lopez (1-1) by a six-round unanimous decision.

The scores were 59-54, 60-54, and 60-54. Raul Caiz, Jr. was the referee.

Lightweight Carson Crawford (1-0) won a four-round majority decision over Archana Sharma (3-4, 2 KOs). The scores were 39-37, 39-37, 38-38. Krysti Rosario was the referee.

Super Flyweight Jesus Diego (3-0, 2 KOs) knocked out southpaw Marcus Decamp (0-6) at 1:17 of the third round of a scheduled four rounds. In the third round, Diego dropped Decamp for the count of referee Gerald White.

Lightweight southpaw Juan Francisco Fonseca, Jr. (4-0, 1 KO) defeated southpaw Clayton ‘The Teacher’ Hibbert (2-8, 2 KOs) by a four-round unanimous decision.

In the first two rounds, Fonseca had the edge. In the third round, Hibbert landed a left hook to the chin, and Fonseca landed a low blow, dropping him. From that point, Hibbert kept holding. In the fourth and final round, halfway through, Fonseca landed a right on the chin. Hibbert held the rest of the way continuously.

The scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 39-37. Gerald White was the referee.

Super middleweight Ethan Smith (2-1, 2 KOs) was stopped by Terrence Coleman (1-0, 1 KO) at 2:17 in the second round of a scheduled four rounds.

Coleman dropped Smith with a right on the chin in the second round as Referee Raul Caiz, Jr. waved it off without a count.

The ring Announcer was Marco Rodriguez.
