Wherever she goes, Sabrina Carpenter tends to leave quite an impression. Unfortunately for some, it’s been a negative impression on their favorite sports teams.
Carpenter began her Short n’ Sweet Tour on Sept. 23 and fans are already noticing a concerning trend involving the jerseys she’s chosen to wear along each early stop. Just weeks in, the idea of the “Sabrina Carpenter curse” is already becoming a thing.
What exactly is the Sabrina Carpenter curse? Here is why many believe Carptenter’s jersey choices are having a negative impact on sports teams.

Sabrina Carpenter curse, explained
After opening the tour in Columbus, Ohio, Carpenter took things north of the border to perform at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Sept. 25. There, she sported a custom Maple Leafs jersey with her name and the No. 24, likely signifying that the tour date is in 2024.
Two weeks later, the Maple Leafs opened their season with a rough offensive performance in a 1-0 loss to the Canadiens. Curious, yes, but there were no rumblings of a curse just yet.
As she continued her tour, Carpenter performed at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Oct. 8. A Pennsylvania native, Carpenter represented her home team by wearing a custom Phillies jersey in support of the team, who, at the time, was competing with the Mets in the NLDS.

Unfortunately for Carpenter and Phillies fans worldwide, the team was eliminated from the postseason one day after she represented them on stage. Carpenter curse strike two.
As her latest act, Carpenter was spotted in New York City wearing a Cowboys sweatshirt in photos shared Oct. 10. Three days later, Dallas suffered a demoralizing 47-9 loss on its home field.
Not only is that strike three for the curse, it appears to be getting stronger.

Cursing sports teams is one thing, awareness is another. And while Carpenter hasn’t addressed the curse just yet, the 25-year-old is one of the most self-aware stars in pop culture.
It may be a matter of time before she uses her one-of-a-kind sense of humor to address it on stage.
