The Baltimore Ravens have a major concern in their secondary before the 2025 season begins.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, safety Ar’Darius Washington has suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon that will keep him out for most or all of the 2025 campaign.
“Sources: Ravens safety Ar’Darius Washington, who was expected to play a key role in Baltimore’s defense next season, has torn his Achilles, the MRI has confirmed,” the NFL Network insider reported. “The injury, which occurred during conditioning, will cause him to miss most or all of the 2025 season.”
A former undrafted free-agent signing of the Ravens, Washington appeared in all 17 games for Baltimore last season and worked his way into a starting role after Marcus Williams was benched.
Washington was once again expected to play a key role in Baltimore’s secondary in 2025, as he either would’ve been a starter or a key rotational player in the safeties room. Washington also saw some time at the nickel last season.
The Ravens drafted Georgia safety Malaki Starks in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft and he is assured a starting role next to Kyle Hamilton now.
Starks’ presence will soften the blow of Washington’s injury, but his absence remains a blow, nonetheless, as it also impacts Baltimore’s depth.
