Travis Hunter ties a bow on legendary Colorado career with exciting announcement

It’s been a whirlwind for Travis Hunter ever since he was picked up second in the 2025 NFL draft on April 24 by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The reigning Heisman winner now has more exciting news to add to his resume — he just graduated with his college degree after leaving behind a legendary career with the Colorado Buffaloes.

On Thursday, the University of Colorado confirmed the exciting news on X, with a picture of the Jags star attending his college graduation.

They captioned the post, “GOT THAT DEGREE!”

In the short clip, Hunter stands alongside his peers wearing a cap and gown.

Hunter received his degree in Anthropology.

NFL fans were quick to comment on the post and congratulate Hunter on the achievement.

“Honestly stuff like this is a blessing to see cuz the student part is being left behind in college athletics. Highly doubt a lot of these dues are graduating transferring this much,” one person commented.

“That’s wassup. Being able to graduate became a pro in the NFL and a heisman trophy winner. Gotta love it,” another person wrote.

“Normalize star Athletes Graduating,” someone else commented.

In a pre-draft interview, the 21-year-old said he wasn’t sure what his exact GPA was, but estimated it to be between a 3.7 and 3.9.

Travis Hunter heads to rookie minicamp this week

The NFL rookie won’t be able to celebrate his newest accolade very long, as he’ll have to head to Jacksonville within the next 24 hours to report to rookie minicamp on Friday.

Practices are open to the public on Saturday, May 10.

Similar to his career at Colorado, Hunter is expected to play on both sides of the ball in the NFL.

On May 6, NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe said that the former Colorado standout will start off as a wide receiver for the Jaguars.

The plan is for him to “major in offense and minor in defense” before becoming a “double” major in the NFL, the reporter said.

“He’s going to get most of his time at wide receiver, and then learn defensive back as the summer goes along,” Wolfe added.
