Gyokeres tussle
Reports suggest Manchester United and Arsenal continue to battle it out for Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swede is one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers and has 47 goals in his last 46 games for Sporting Lisbon.
In a twist, Football Insider claims Man Utd believe Gyokeres to the North West is a “done deal”.
Injury update
In a huge boost for the Gunners, Mikel Merino and Ben White were both spotted in first team training today.
‘Unbelievable’
Arsenal Women manager Renee Slegers praised the club for investing in women’s football following Sunday’s historic 4-1 win over Lyon.
She said: “I’m very happy and, of course, very proud because I think what the club have been doing for so long, investing in women’s football and I think what we get to do now is something that’s been worked on for a long, long time.
“But, of course, what we’re doing in the moment, what the players are doing at the moment, it’s unbelievable.
“I’m so proud of the team and their investments and the work ethic and how they stayed calm because I think that was the biggest key for us today, to stay calm in all the scenarios that would happen.
“I think we get challenged in a lot of different scenarios today, but the players stayed calm and that was key today. So, I’m very, very proud.”
Why Gunners could outspend Man Utd
Arsenal could launch a huge summer spree to eclipse the spending plans of Manchester United and Chelsea.
SunSport’s Martin Lipton explains why – and how – he reckons Gunners boss Mikel Arteta could splash out like never before.
Joan Garcia on potential move
The Espanyol goalkeeper told Spanish outlet AS: “There was a lot of interest last summer, especially from Arsenal.
“But I stayed here and since then I’ve been 100% focused on this season.
“We all know mine & the club’s situation & anything can happen. But the future will tell.”
PSG send message to Gunners
Paris Saint-Germain fans unfurled a banner aimed at Arsenal before losing their first Ligue 1 game of the season.
Ahead of Friday night’s clash against Nice at the Parc de Princes, supporters showed off a banner in the crowd that targeted Mikel Arteta‘s side.
It read: “Eliminate Arsenal, bring us to the final.”
