Soon, Travis Hunter will be seeking to do something no NFL star has done before: play elite offense and defense on a week-by-week basis.
It remains to be seen whether the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner will be given the reigns to do so in the NFL, but Hunter’s stardom is as close to guaranteed as it can be. Since his high school days, he’s been dominating football fields.
Supporting Hunter on his journey to the NFL has been his mother, Ferrante Edmonds.

Who is Travis Hunters’ mom?
Hunter’s mom is Ferrante Edmonds. Her most public appearance came when her son was named the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, sitting next to Hunter’s fiancee, Leanna Lenee.
She spoke during the Heisman ceremony, saying she “loves the person that he is,” also sharing the turnaround of how she had him in a young pregnancy, to Hunter now being a football star.
“What they said was my biggest mistake turned out to be the biggest blessing. That just goes to show you, you can make mistakes, but that does not define who you are,” Edmonds said. “I’m so excited for him, but I’m also so excited for all the people behind him.”

Where is Travis Hunter from?
Hunter was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Collins High School in Suwanee, Georgia, becoming a two-way player.
Ferrante Edmonds told ESPN in December that she left behind a three-bedroom house in Florida in hopes of finding a better life for her and her family in Georgia.
“In order for you to have something, you got to actually see it,” Edmonds told ESPN. “So I knew that this was just us passing through, and that was something that we had to go through. We went through it. We endured it, but it also made us stronger. Not just one of us, but all of us. Sometimes the tests and the trials that you go through can make you stronger, make you wiser and make you that much hungrier.”
They lived in a hotel while Hunter was in high school, and Hunter also spent time living with one of his coaches, Frontia Fountain.
